Anne Bishop
|
Anne Bishop lives in upstate New York where she enjoys gardening, music, and writing dark, romantic stories. She is the author of sixteen novels, including the award-winning Black Jewels Trilogy. Her most recent novel is Written in Red, an urban dark fantasy set in a re-imagined Earth. She is currently working on the second book about the Others. We are really excited to host Anne in Perth, and look forward to hearing her unique insights and learning from her story telling and writing abilities. |
Jim Butcher is the author of the Dresden Files, the Codex Alera, and a new steampunk series, the Cinder Spires. His resume includes a laundry list of skills which were useful a couple of centuries ago, and he plays guitar quite badly. An avid gamer, he plays tabletop games in varying systems, a variety of video games on PC and console, and LARPs whenever he can make time for it. Jim currently resides mostly inside his own head, but his head can generally be found in his home town of Independence, Missouri. |

Isobelle Carmody
|
Beginning the first of her highly acclaimed Obernewtyn Chronicles while she was still at high school and working on them while completing her Bachelor of Arts and journalism cadetship, the first book was accepted by the first publisher she sent it to and went on to be short-listed in the Older Readers section of the Children’s Book Council Book of the Year Award for older readers. The series and her short stories have established her at the forefront of fantasy writing in Australia. Swancon is delighted to host Isobelle in Perth in 2014, especially since “The Red Queen”, the final volume of her Obernewtyn Chronicles is due to be published in the second half of this year. |
Perth Fan Guest of Honour
Sally’s first convention was way back in 1975, when she was a student, and she first joined Swancon in 1977 as the Treasurer for Swancon 2. If you can remember back that far you may have heard her say “Five Dollars, Please”, for the single day convention at the Belmont Community Centre. She has attended almost every Swancon since then, missing only 2008 to attend a friend’s wedding in Melbourne. She co-programmed Swancon 11 and Coordinated the Childrens Program for SwanCon 18, a huge fan herself, she is also married to a fan, and the mother of another fan. As a long time and well loved part of the Perth Fan Community, she is our World, and Conjuration’s Fan Guest of Honour! |
